Scenario: You hear a loud noise at the rear of your house and see 3
intruders. They ignore your verbal command and advance.

Procedure: Begin with pistol at retention and give the verbal command,
"Stop! Don't come any closer!" At the beep, drop behind cover
and fire 4 shots each on T1-T3.
Props: 5ft T1, 6ft T2-left, 4ft T3-shirt at 9-10-7 yards;
double-barrel, barrel, knee rug
Name: First Aid
Scoring: 9 shots Vickers, on 3 IDPA targets; concealment required
Scenario: After an initial attack, you're performing First Aid with your
strong hand when 3 more attackers suddenly appear.

Type: medium; Armed Citizen exercise
Procedure: Begin kneeling with pistol in weak hand at low-ready, with
max. 3 rounds loaded. At the beep, fire 1 round each on T1-T3
freestyle. Reload then re-engage each with 1 shot to the body
and 1 to the head

Stages 3 and 4 (Bay #2) Name: West Side Precinct
Scoring: 12 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: While doing paperwork at your desk, two armed intruders
attack your co-workers.

Type: medium; 15--10 yd getting-to-cover drill
Procedure: Begin with palms on the desktop. At the beep, remain seated
and engage T1-T2 with 3 shots each in tactical sequence.
Move to cover in order to reload, then re-engage with
an additional 3 shots each.
Props: 6ft T1-shirt, 4ft T2; desk, chair, double-barrel
Name: Dinner and a Crowbar
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets; concealment required
Scenario: You are having dinner with 2 friends -- and 2 uninvited
robbers. One has a crowbar, and the other grabs a
decorative sword off the wall -- and slices your arm with it.
Your friends flee.

Type: short; 4--5 yd one-hand failure Armed Citizen
Procedure: Begin seated with palms on table. At the beep, seated or
standing, one hand only engage T1-T2 each with 2 shots
to the body and 1 to the head, with the first two shots
in tactical sequence.
Props: 6ft T1-shirt, 4ft T2; another table and chair
Stages 5 and 6 (Bay #3) Name: Compromised Cover
Scoring: 18 shots Vickers, on 3 IDPA targets
Scenario: While reloading, your position becomes compromised, so you
have to find better cover.

Type: long; 10--15 yd getting-to-cover exercise
Procedure: Begin behind low cover, pistol at low ready. At the beep, fire
3 rounds each on T1-T2. Reload then retreat to high cover
while engaging T3 with at least 3 shots. Finish off T1-T3
with an additional 3 rounds each.
Props: 2ft T1, 4ft T2-shirt, 5ft NT, 5ft T3-left;
barrel, knee rug, double-barrel
Name: A History of Violence
Scoring: 5 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: You're Tom Stall, American Hero, Man of Few Words. Two very
bad men start to rob your diner and menace a bystander. You
smash one in the face with a coffeepot and grab his gun; he
grabs a knife.
Designer: David Cronenberg, 2005
Type: short; one-hand exercise
Procedure: Begin kneeling. On signal, using one hand only, retrieve
pistol from mat on ground, fire 4 shots on T3 (with Non-Threat)
and 1 to the head of T2.
Props: 2ft T1, 4ft T2-shirt, 5ft NT; gun mat
Stages 7 and 8 (Bay #4) Name: 5/6 Melody Line
Scoring: 10 shots Limited, on 5 IDPA targets

Scenario: You're sitting on the rocky shore of an African lake. The
mercenaries who murdered your spouse are now coming for
you. You hear them approaching behind you.

Type: long; 25-yd barricade exercise
Procedure: Begin seated, hands on knees, facing uprange. At the beep,
make your way to the barricade and fire 3 rounds each on
T1-T5.
Props: 4ft T1-left, 5ft T2-, T3-shirts, 4ft T4-right, 6ft T5,
double-barrel, barrel; stool, barricade
Stages 9 and 10 (Bay #5) Name: The Unit: First Responders: Take Out the Spotters
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: Terrorists are threatening to destroy a hijacked plane of trade
delegates: Your mission is to neutralize the 3 terrorists in a
nearby woods who are spotting for those onboard the plane.
After using your knife on 1, you have to move quickly to take
out the remaining 2.

Type: short; on-the-move exercise
Procedure: Begin with pistol at retention. At the beep, fire 2 shots to the
body on T1-T2 while advancing. Finish with 1 head shot each
on T1-T2.
Props: 4ft T1, 5ft T2-shirt; yard-line (or use double-barrel's position)
Name: Closing Up Shop
Scoring: 12 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets; concealment optional
Scenario: While restocking shelves and cleaning after hours, you hear
the shattering of glass. You go to investigate and find two
armed burglars in your store.

Type: medium; moving-to-cover Armed Citizen
Procedure: Begin facing T2. At the beep, draw and -- while retreating to
and using cover -- engage T1-T2 each with 4 shots to the
body then 2 to the head.

Procedure: Begin at arm's length from T3. While retreating, engage
T1-T3 with 2 rounds each as they become visible.

Stages 13 and 14 (Bay #7) Name: Wild-Bill Drill
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 3 IDPA: 3-2-1 (one threat, falling)
Scenario: You're FBI agent Clarice Starling, hunting serial killer Wild Bill
in his chamber of horrors. You hear him in the darkness as he
cocks his revolver. You wheel around instinctively and fight for
your life, emptying your revolver and reloading.

Type: short; 3-yd combat exercise
Procedure: Begin seated, facing to the right of the targets, at low-ready.
At the beep, remain seated and fire 2-body and 1-head on T1;
then 2 shots on T2; and 1 shot on T3. The stage is finished
when the shooter has reloaded, scanned the area, and
reholstered hot.

Name: I Wasn't Going to Die There
Scoring: 14 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: You are Orange County (Fla.) Deputy Sheriff Jennifer Fulford
in a shootout with 2 kidnappers in a garage. Ricochets hit you
in the right knee and the left ankle, thigh, and buttock; then
you are hit in your shooting shoulder.

Type: long; 4-yd combat exercise
Procedure: At the beep, engage one threat with 6 rounds. Then, dropping
to both knees, engage the other with 6. Finally, re-engage
either threat weak-hand only with 2 rounds to the head

Stages 15 and 16 (Bay #8) Name: Dogged Stand
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 1 IDPA "classic", 2 IDPA targets;

Scenario: Two attackers with a dog try to get the jump on you.

Procedure: Begin facing uprange. At the beep, fire 2 rounds each on

Scoring: 9 shots Vickers, on 1 IDPA "classic", 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: You confront 3 claim jumpers in the Alaskan goldfields and are
wounded during the action.

Type: medium; one-hand exercise
Procedure: String 1: Draw one hand only, drop behind barrel, and fire
3 rounds each on T1 and T3.
Off clock: Reload if necessary behind cover; place pistol on
ground; go prone and place hands flat on ground.
String 2: Retrieve pistol other hand only and fire 3 rounds
on T2 while prone.
Props: 9-7-8: 5ft T1-shirt, T2-prone, 6ft T3; barrel, tarp, gun mat
Stages 17 and 18 (Bay #9) Name: Lights Out
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets; concealment required
Scenario: You're attacked after picking up your dry cleaning.

Type: short; tactical-priority Armed Citizen
Procedure: Begin at arm's length in front of T1, holding garment bag in
strong hand. All shots while retreating: At the beep, throw
the bag on T1, fire 3 rounds on T2, then 3 rounds on T1.
Props: 4ft T1, 6ft T2-shirt; garment bag
Name: Camouflaged Prez
Scoring: 12 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: Home from a lengthy afternoon at the gun range, you hear
something at your back door: Two men dressed in camouflage
jerking on your screen door, breaking the latch hook. One has
a roll of duct tape. You're hit in the fight.

Type: medium; 10-yd Armed Citizen
Procedure: Begin facing uprange. At the beep, fire 3 rounds on T1-T2 each.
Reload. Re-engage T1-T2 one hand only with 3 rounds each.
